I recently grabbed the 24" Rolling Toolbox for $52 last July, but living in a city apartment has made the rolling feature less useful due to stairs leading to my work area. With limited storage space, I'm planning to build a dolly with plywood and 2x4s to help me move it around more easily. I'm wondering a few things: 1) Should I sell this rolling toolbox? If so, what should I consider buying for similar storage options that can stack? 2) Has anyone successfully removed the wheels and the entire handle without damaging the unit? I know the top can come off, but removing the wheels would change its overall dimensions. I'm a DIY enthusiast and anticipate having more projects in the next 12-18 months once I hopefully move to a place with a garage! Also, I have several other boxes to store my tools since space is tight; I really need to utilize vertical storage effectively. I've been loving the drawer boxes for organization, but others work well for larger items too!

If you're considering alternatives, TStaks might be worth looking into. They're more compact and generally cheaper too. If they offer an adapter for TS2.0, that could help you fit more in tight spaces.
It sounds like the rolling toolbox might not be the best for your situation. Since you’re doing lots of DIY, consider creating smaller kit bags for your tasks. They’ll be more portable, especially for jobs like IKEA assembly or plumbing.
I know what you mean about portability! I do have a lot of other boxes for storage, so I’m trying to stack everything vertically as best as I can.

That’s useful to know! I do have some TStak boxes already, and they connect pretty well. Just a bit concerned about the base that rolls since it can be a hassle with my current setup.
