Need Advice on Solar Setup for My Cargo Trailer Conversion

Asked By SunChaser123 On

I'm working on converting a cargo trailer into a tiny camper and I'm pretty new to solar power. I have 2 100W flexible solar panels, 2 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries, and a 1500W pure sine wave inverter. I'm looking for resources—like books or videos—that could help me design a solar system. My planned usage includes running two 6" vent fans, occasionally using a 32" TV, and charging my drone batteries, laptop, and phone. I'm really unsure about the specifics, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely look at Will Prowse's channel, it’s a great start! You’ll also need a charge controller, and depending on your sunlight availability, you might need more solar power and battery storage. Doing a load calculation will help you figure out exactly what you need. Remember, it's more efficient to use DC fans and lights directly instead of converting to AC. Look for an off-grid solar calculator online to estimate your power needs, and keep your batteries' depth of discharge to around 60% for longevity.
