Hey everyone, I'm reaching out because I could really use some help with my mom's houseplants after her unexpected passing. She had several that she adored, including two that she referred to as her 'babies.' We would often share pictures of our plants as they grew. My dad wants to carry on her legacy by taking care of them, but he's not familiar with plant care at all. I typically just go with my instincts for my own plants, but since I live in another state, I can't check on them regularly. Does anyone have advice on identifying the plants and creating a care routine? Any app recommendations or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your support!

I can relate to your situation! 'The New Plant Parent' by Darryl Cheng is an awesome resource for beginners. His website, houseplantjournal.com, has a ton of tips as well! It really helped me understand things like overwatering and light needs, which are super important.
I'm really sorry to hear about your mom. It’s great that your dad wants to keep her plants alive! You could check out r/whatsthisplant; there's a whole community ready to help identify the plants and give advice. Just post pictures there for assistance!
Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll make sure to share any plants I can’t identify.
I'm so sorry for your loss! The book suggestion is spot on. If your dad is comfortable online, he can find tons of info just by searching for the plants. Sounds like you’ve already given him some helpful tips, which is great!
I appreciate your help! I think the book will be a great start for him.

Thanks, we’ll definitely check out the book and website!
