I'm on the hunt for a good saw for ripping and resawing, and I'm torn between a Crown 190 and a modern low friction Jorgensen model. I've been using a Dewalt 15 inch version of the Jorgensen, which cuts straight and is easy to handle. However, I'm curious if anyone has experience with either of these saws or can share insights about their performance.

Honestly, if you're looking for bang for your buck, consider grabbing an old saw and learning to sharpen it yourself. I picked up my main rip saw for about $10, it's 26 inches long, and the handle is super comfy. Modern saws sometimes feel a bit off, almost like something from a video game. Plus, ripping is tough on the teeth, so being able to sharpen is key.

I hear you on that! I've got some vintage crosscut saws, but I just don't have the time to learn sharpening right now. Maybe I'll reach out to a local expert instead.
