I recently bought a house with a pretty uneven first floor, and after having a structural engineer assess the situation, it turns out I need to route water away from the north wall. The issue is that my neighbor's yard slopes directly towards my wall, so I'm looking into installing a French drain. I'm wondering if I should hire a landscaper or a contractor for this job. Given that it's about 60 feet along the length of my home, I want to know the best approach to find someone experienced who can handle this properly.

You might want to start with a landscape design company if it's just surface runoff. They can usually handle that kind of work pretty well. If you're feeling adventurous, it’s not a bad DIY project as long as you’re up for digging a long trench! But if you need drainage for a basement footer, that’s a bigger deal, and you'll definitely need an excavation company.

I appreciate the input! Just to clarify, I’m not very familiar with drainage systems. The yard has a significant slope and I’m not sure if it’s more surface runoff or something deeper.
