Need Help Finding a Water Leak in My Home

Asked By SunnyDay245 On

I suspect there's a weak seal somewhere on the outside of my house that's letting water in during rain. I've noticed water coming in on the 2nd floor, particularly underneath my kitchen cabinets. I'm wondering who I should contact to locate the leak and assess any floor damage. Should I call someone for foundation inspections, or is there a specific type of professional for this situation?

You might want to first consider what's above that kitchen. If it's an attic and there's a plumbing vent going through the roof, a roofer could help you out. They know how to spot bad seals really well.

Interesting! I'll definitely check that out. It's a home with an attic, not another unit--thanks for the tip!

Another thing to consider is whether there's a drain leak under your kitchen sink. Sometimes those can cause water damage to floors too. Keep an eye out for any plumbing issues, especially when it rains hard!

It only seems to happen during heavy rains, so I doubt it's plumbing. But I'll check it out just to be sure.
