I'm looking for recommendations on effective deer repellents specifically for my hydrangeas and other flowering plants. Unfortunately, I can't use netting or a fence, so I'm hoping for suggestions on a spray or granular solution that really works. What have you tried?

There are several good commercial deer repellents available at garden centers. They work to some extent, but keep in mind that they often don't last very long, especially after rain. So, you’ll need to reapply pretty frequently. A good tip is to only spray your most valuable plants; that way, if the deer do get desperate, they might leave them alone and munch on the less valuable plants instead.
Have you tried Deer Stopper II concentrate? Just spray it on every 2-3 weeks and it does the trick! It's a bit pricey, but it works well, I promise.
Honestly, I've come to terms with replacing the deer-friendly plants with ones they don’t like. Trying to fight them can be disappointing! But I also built a really secure fence around my veggie garden using T posts and chicken wire. It wasn't too expensive and it really keeps them out. I can share more details if you're interested!

I hear you! Liquid Fence works for us too, but remember to reapply it after rain. It's especially good for the young plants that are vulnerable to nibbling—trust me, dealing with those fawns can be a real hassle!
