I recently came across this amazing post about making a 3D effect end grain cutting board, which inspired me to try my hand at a similar project. However, I ran into some issues due to my inexperience and lack of tools. I have a stack of hexagonal pieces that are misaligned; some are slightly longer or different heights, so they don't sit flush together. I've considered using a router jig to level the bottoms since they are flush, but I'm uncertain how to tackle the individual pieces. Am I going to have to sand each hexagon by hand to make them fit, or is there a better option? Here's a photo for context.

It sounds like your project has hit a tough spot! Making precise cuts is essential for projects like this, and even small discrepancies can lead to bigger issues down the line. What sizes are your hexagons? If they’re smaller pieces, it might be easier to identify the problem areas. Pictures definitely help, so I'm glad you shared one!
Thanks for the input! I just uploaded a picture. Looks like I might be in a bit of trouble unless I put in some serious work. I do have access to a belt sander, but is there a way to measure and adjust them without just eyeballing it?
