Need Help Improving Customer Service Communication in Retail Store

Hey fellow electronics enthusiasts! I'm part owner of a small retail store, somewhat similar in size to a Walgreens. Currently, we have speakers connected to a receiver that plays FM radio. The issue we're facing is that we have multiple sections in the store where customers need specialized assistance, often behind counters or glass displays. Right now, a staff member at the front just shouts for help when needed, which can come off sounding angry and stressed, even if that's not the intention. I'm wondering how feasible it would be to set up a button near the register that plays a message indicating that customer service is required in a particular area. I'm also open to hearing other ideas! While I know walkie-talkies could work, they have their own set of challenges. What are your thoughts?

Decent two-way radios with earpieces are really the way to go! They're super effective in retail settings. I've used them plenty of times, and they work like a charm.

Custom doorbell kits are actually quite cheap, and you can record your own messages! You could set it up to announce, "Assistance needed in Aisle 3" or something similar, which could really help direct staff more effectively and avoid that awkward yelling.

How about using remote-controlled lights? A colorful rope light around the register that changes color could signal when help is needed without any noise! You could set it to stay a certain color until someone clears it, and even use different colors to represent various sections of the store!

For most beginners, this might be pretty doable! There are some inexpensive sound boards available that handle a lot of the work, and you would just need to add a relay for signal switching and some buttons. Also, consider separating the FM from the receiver to make it all work easier. Alternatively, a wireless doorbell system could be a super simple solution too!

Wireless doorbell sounds like a brilliant idea! I'll definitely check that out. Thanks!
