Need Help Installing a Battery-Powered Doorbell Camera on Pebbledash

Hey everyone! I'm a total DIY beginner and need some guidance on installing a battery-powered doorbell camera outside my flat. I've never done any installation work like this before—most of my experience is just putting together Ikea furniture. The challenge is that my outer wall has a pebbledash finish, so I can't just stick the mount on directly. I'm wondering if it's safe to drill right into the pebbledash, and how I can avoid hitting any pipes or wires while doing so. I've also thought about attaching a piece of wood first and then screwing the doorbell mount into that, but I'm unsure if the wood would hold up. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you're concerned about drilling, consider using heavy-duty tape designed for outdoor use. I had a similar issue, and I stuck my camera mount with 3M tape, and it held up really well. Plus, it won’t leave any marks when you take it down later!

Rather than drilling, have you thought about mounting it directly on the door? There are kits designed to wrap around your door, making it super easy to install without damaging anything. I’ve used one for my garage door, and it worked like a charm!

That’s a great idea! I’ll definitely look into that.

It sounds like a tricky situation! Since you’re renting, I’d steer clear of drilling into the pebbledash, as that could lead to losing your deposit if there’s damage. Instead, consider using a door-mounted bracket or strong 3M tape. These options won’t harm your walls, and you can easily remove the doorbell to charge it when needed. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion! I didn’t think about the tape option.
