Need Help Installing My Vent Hood!

Hey everyone! I'm trying to install a vent for the Cosmo wall-mounted range hood (Model #COS-63175S) and I'm feeling a bit lost. It needs a 6-inch duct and a part for the roof. Where can I find these pieces in that size? Why are most vents left wide open? Wouldn't that just let bugs in? Are there options that close when not in use? Also, if I used a 4-inch duct instead, would that mess with the CFM? I have ADHD and really appreciate specific guidance, so any related links or videos would be super helpful!

I just ordered 6-inch vent parts online! You can find them at sites like Home Depot. Metal is your best bet, and if you're worried about bugs getting in, there are louvered exhaust hoods you can get that close when not in use. You can even add a pest screen on top! Trust me, avoiding those creepy crawlies is a good idea!

Thanks for the suggestion! Which website did you order from?

Honestly, if you're feeling overwhelmed, it might be best to call in a pro for this. It’s easy to make mistakes with installation, especially if you haven’t done it before! But if you're determined, you can check local stores like Home Depot or Lowe's for the 6-inch vent parts you need. They usually carry metal ducts because they're better than flexible ones. Stainless is great but even galvanized will work well.
