Need Help Making a Jewelry/Makeup Box for My Wife in NJ!

Hey everyone! I'm planning to make a jewelry and makeup box for my wife, and I've got a solid vision of what I want to create. The problem is I don't have any tools or even a place to use them. I'm in Bergen County, Northern New Jersey, and I'm wondering if there's a way to bring my materials to a service where they can make the necessary cuts in wood and brass. I can handle the assembly and finishing myself, but I need some help getting started! Any suggestions?

There's a place called Woodcraft near me that used to offer a woodshop you could access like a gym membership. You could pay by the hour or month. Definitely look for makers' clubs in your area; they might have what you need!

You might want to consider that making a quality project isn't just about a few cuts. It takes a good amount of time, skill, and patience. Plus, having someone you don't know handle your materials can be risky for both your tools and fingers! I recommend checking out any local makerspaces. They're like DIY shops where you can rent time and use their tools safely.

If you can’t find a makerspace, consider buying some basic tools like a plane and chisels. Learning how to sharpen blades can be super helpful too! You might only need a saw or two depending on the wood you choose. It's a hands-on way to get your project done.
