Hey everyone! I'm not the handiest person, but I'm diving into a DIY project for a table that's going to hold my record player on top and an electric fireplace underneath, with cabinets on either side. I'm aiming for dimensions of 6 feet long, 18 inches deep, and about 2.5 feet tall. I'm looking for advice on what type of wood to use and the best screws or fasteners to hold it all together.

You definitely need to create a plan or diagram first. The type of wood you choose can depend on your construction technique, and cost is also something to consider. Do you have access to tools for finishing rough lumber, or are you looking for wood that's almost ready to go? If you don't have a full tool set, that could affect what you can use. It sounds like you have a few ideas, just make sure to plan it out before you commit to any materials!

I'll sketch something out and share it here! I've got a solid set of tools and can get ready-to-stain wood. Thinking about using screws, but definitely want something durable. I can spend a few hundred bucks.
