Need Help Redesigning My Garage Workshop Layout!

I'm feeling overwhelmed trying to reconfigure my garage shop. I want to add a sub panel and some new equipment, but I'm stuck on how to lay out everything for electrical wiring and dust collection. Plus, I'm considering whether or not to build a dedicated miter stand. My garage is 3 bays, each about 11x22 feet, but I need to keep space for my wife's car. One of the bays is offset, which complicates things. I'm going to post photos of some layout ideas in the comments, and I would really appreciate your advice!

Considering your idea about running the 240V to the far wall - I'd say if you’re worried about the storage space, prioritize layout that maximizes your workbench area and showcases flexibility. A rolling cart for your planer/sander could be beneficial, allowing you to move it as needed without taking permanent space. Flow is crucial!

It looks like you've put a lot of thought into your layouts! In one of the ideas you shared, I noticed you have a full miter station but have to roll your bandsaw around to use it. That could be a hassle. Maybe think about a setup where everything is more accessible and doesn’t require moving heavy tools around. Less hassle means more efficiency!

Yeah, that's a good point! Accessibility is key, I just need to figure out how to balance that with space for my wife's car.

If you can find an arrangement that allows you to keep the heavy stuff stationary and make lighter pieces movable, you’d probably find your workflow improves. Having everything on wheels can help, but too many mobile pieces can clutter up the space too quickly. It's all about that balance!

From the smaller miter stand layout you shared, having flip-up wings sounds nice since it saves space, but you’ll lose some bench space and storage under the miter station. You might want to consider a wall-mounted foldable setup to save even more space while keeping everything organized. That way, you can have your equipment out of the way when not in use.

That’s a clever idea! I hadn’t thought about wall-mounted options. I’ll definitely look into it.
