Need Help Setting Up My Solar Panel System

I recently bought a 440W bifacial solar panel and I'm planning to connect it to a Victron MPPT solar charge controller. This controller seems to support 12V and 24V systems. I'm also looking into getting a battery and an inverter for my setup. However, I came across a post that suggested my charge controller might not work, and that professional help might be necessary for the connections. I initially thought setting up would be straightforward—just connecting positive and negative leads and hooking up the panel last. Am I missing something?

It's key to do a bit of research before diving in to figure out your end goals. If you're new to this, maybe start watching videos by Will Prowse—he has tons of helpful info. Remember, the battery voltage—12V, 24V, or 48V—determines your setup. 12V is ideal for mobile setups like RVs. Also, know that to create a 12V battery, you'll need four 3.2V cells in series, and a BMS is necessary for lithium batteries to manage each cell's performance.

You'll actually need four of those cells to get a 12V system running properly, plus a Battery Management System (BMS) to keep everything safe and balanced. Your charge controller can work, but consider the Bluetooth version, as it might make setup and monitoring easier for you!

Wait, when you say 'cells', are you talking about solar panels? So I can’t just use the single one I have?

Yep, that's right! For a 12V setup, you'll need to connect four cells in series. And for the BMS, it's a crucial part to manage the health of your battery pack.
