Need Help Wiring a Window A/C and Lighting Circuits

I'm trying to figure out how to wire a window A/C unit and a lighting circuit for a shed, but I'm confused about some details. I asked Chat GPT for a wiring diagram, and honestly, it didn't help much (check it out here: https://imgur.com/a/BaFdFwe). For the outlets, I'm set. I'll wire them up through a GFCI outlet and then continue to the last receptacle. But I'm really stuck on the lighting part. My double rocker switch doesn't have a neutral connection option, so I plan to run the neutral wire straight to the fixtures. But how do I connect the neutral wire so that it passes through from one fixture to another? I don't think branching off is the right move, but I'm lost on what to do and can't find any good tutorials addressing this. Any help would be appreciated!

I’d recommend being super cautious about taking advice from AI on wiring. It's serious stuff, and you don't want to risk causing a major problem. You seem to be knowledgeable, but maybe consult a licensed electrician or a buddy who does this for a living. Play it safe! Just take it slow and make sure everything is organized before you start connecting wires.

Sounds like you're on the right track with your A/C installation. For the lighting circuit, when you connect your fixtures, you typically don’t hook the neutral into the switch. Instead, you connect them directly between fixtures, effectively passing the neutral from one to the next. You can use wire nuts for your connections to keep it clean. Just ensure to connect each fixture’s neutral wire with the incoming neutrals as well to maintain continuity. And for grounding—absolutely pigtail the grounds from the fixtures to a common point. This way, everything stays grounded safely!

Thanks for clarifying! What do I do with the neutrals from the double rocker switch? Is it okay to just branch them with wire nuts like you mentioned?

You’re right to question branching wires; while you can pass neutrals through with wire nuts, ensure you're following safe practices. For the double rocker switch, you actually want to treat the neutrals like any other fixture—you should connect them all together, not to the switch itself. Then just make sure your fixtures are tied back to the circuit. If you’ve got two outputs from the switch for those lights, you can run separate neutral wires to each and connect them at their respective fixtures. Just keep everything clear and labelled!

Got it! I appreciate the advice. I’m definitely going to take my time and make sure I do this right. Thanks!
