Hey everyone! I just became a homeowner and have encountered a bit of a problem with my carport, which is attached to my house. Over the winter, I've noticed some issue where it seems like the concrete slab that supports the carport has sunk on one side, creating a gap between the support leg and the concrete. I'm not sure if the support has remained in place while the concrete sunk or if it's something else altogether. There are also some signs of concrete heaving. What kind of contractor would I need to fix this? Is it possible that I'll have to lift the roof while addressing this issue? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like the concrete support under your carport has definitely settled a bit compared to the rest of the slab. It’s important to get a good look at the condition of the entire setup. You might want to check for any signs of the carport roof pulling away from your house, as they can indicate further problems. Typically, you'll want to look for a concrete or foundation repair contractor to handle this. They can assess if any lifting is necessary. Good luck, and hopefully, it's a simple fix!
