Need Help with Hot Tub Installation Near Dryer Vent

Asked By SunshineSeeker42 On

I'm planning to install a hot tub this summer, along with a new deck and a pool. Initially, I wanted to place the hot tub at the end of the deck next to my house, but I'm worried about it being too close to the dryer vent and air exchanger vents, which are at the same level. The hot tub will be set up 24 inches away from the house as required by my building permit. I could shift it closer to my patio door, but that would put it just 7 feet away. I'm also building the deck around both the pool and the hot tub. Any suggestions on what I should do?

It sounds like you have a solid plan! Just make sure to follow the building codes regarding clearances for vents. If the dryer vent is too close, it's better to adjust the hot tub's position more than 24" away. You might want to consider the airflow from your air exchanger too; keeping it away can prevent any weird humidity issues. Having pictures of your layout would help, but if you can't upload them, maybe sketch it out to visualize better.

Good point about airflow! Sometimes, placing vents closer can lead to steam and moisture problems, especially in winter.

If you're worried about distance, it might be worth checking with a local contractor who can give you advice based on your setup. They might suggest relocating the dryer vent or finding different positions for the hot tub that keeps everything safe and functional!

Exactly! Getting a contractor's opinion can save you a lot of headaches down the line.
