I'm updating my kitchen cabinets and need some advice on how to set up my microwave exhaust fan. When we first moved in, I just hooked up the microwave to the existing ducting. Now that I have new cabinets, I noticed that there's only about 3 inches of space from the top of the cabinet to the ceiling. What are my options for properly venting the microwave? By the way, there's a bedroom directly above the kitchen, so going straight up isn't an option. Here are some pictures for reference: https://imgur.com/a/HuNQ3LX.

I faced a similar issue and had to hide the vent inside a wall cabinet. With our low ceilings, we used an elbow duct to route it through a 9" cabinet beside the microwave. It was tricky but effective!
If you're in a single-story house, you could consider venting up through the roof and sealing off the existing wall vent. But since you have a bedroom right above, that might not work for you. Maybe we can brainstorm some other options?
Yeah, I wish that was an option! Just trying to find a solution without messing up the layout too much.

That sounds interesting, but I'm hesitant to do that since it might be an eyesore. The cabinets to the right are the ones I use most, and I don't want to block them.
