Need Help with My Wild Garden and Wildlife Balance!

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice about my garden, which isn't in the best shape—I'm not really a gardener, but I love nature! My neighbor has gone to our landlord complaining that the brambles in my garden are creeping into hers, but I'm more interested in promoting a wildlife-friendly space. I'd hate to hurt any critters living here, especially since I just saw a cute squirrel hopping around. I guess we need to trim the brambles a bit, but I want to do it gently. Are there any tips on how to handle this without harming the wildlife? And do you know of any gardening services that prioritize nature-friendly approaches? Thanks a bunch!

Yes, definitely keep an eye out for any nests! Maybe there are organizations nearby that help turn gardens into certified wildlife spaces? They might even provide some native plants that attract even more wildlife!

Your neighbor sounds like a piece of work, but I totally get it! Maybe try mowing the edges just enough to mark the boundary without ruining the natural feel of your garden. This way, you can keep it looking good for your neighbor while still letting wildlife thrive. Good luck with it!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try that and see how it goes.

Just a bit of trimming on the edges should be fine for the wildlife! No need to go overboard. It’s frustrating to deal with neighbors like that, but keeping it a little tidy should keep everyone happy. Hang in there!

Have you checked if there are any birds nesting in the brambles? If there are, it might be best to wait until after nesting season to trim anything back. Also, in some places, gardens can get certified as wildlife habitats; maybe look into that for your area!
