Hey everyone! I just moved back into my grandmother's house, and I've noticed a few issues. There are holes in the walls, and some of the floor tiles are cracked. I'm planning to tackle these repairs on my own, but I'm feeling a bit lost. What should I be looking for at the hardware store? Plus, I find those places pretty confusing, and the staff aren't much help! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

For those holes in the wall, it's really important to find out what kind of wall you have before buying supplies. If it's drywall, a technique called a "California patch" might work best. Make sure to get a piece of drywall that matches the thickness of your existing wall. Also, don't forget to take pictures of the damage—they'll help when you're at the store! And definitely snap some pics of those cracked tiles too, just in case.
YouTube is indeed great, but just make sure you understand what exactly you’re trying to fix first. For the holes, knowing the wall material makes a big difference. There are plenty of tutorials for fixing holes in brick, drywall, or plaster. As for cracked tiles, be warned that it's trickier! You could fill in the cracks for a quick fix, but replacing tiles can be a whole other challenge if you haven't done it before.
YouTube can be super helpful for this! Check out some DIY channels that focus on home repairs. I definitely recommend this one YouTuber who has great tutorials on the tools and materials you'll need. He breaks everything down really well!
Yep! I learned a lot from him too. Ended up getting a job offer after my first attempt thanks to what I learned from his tutorials!

Totally agree! This YouTuber made it so easy for me to tackle my own drywall repairs. His videos are a game changer!
