I'm looking to order some replacement windows and I'm a bit confused about the measurements I need to take. I know that I should measure the width from jamb to jamb, but there's also a smaller 'mini jamb' that I'm not sure whether to include or ignore. I've uploaded three images to help clarify: the first two show the left side where there's a fixed window, and the third shows the right side with an awning window that I'm planning to replace with a single sliding window. Any advice on which dimensions I should be focusing on would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

If your windows are just fogged up, you might want to consider reglazing them instead of doing a full replacement. Reglazing is usually cheaper and can fix the fogging issue effectively. But if the frames are in bad shape or you're really after an upgrade, a new window might be the way to go. Just assess your situation carefully!
Your approach depends on whether you plan to go down to the studs or if you're doing an insert. If you're removing everything down to the studs, you'll want to measure the full opening without the jambs. Otherwise, for an insert, start measuring from jamb to jamb, but keep in mind that mini jamb could affect your final fit.
I'm going down to the studs, so I'll follow your advice and measure the whole opening!

I'm facing severe frost issues here in the Canadian Prairies, so I've decided to go for triple pane replacements to handle the winter better.
