Need Ideas for My Old Pool Area – Planning a Firepit!

I recently removed an 18-foot round pool and now I'm left with this empty space. My dog has taken to digging like crazy, and I'd like to transform this area into a cozy firepit with seating. I'm looking for any creative suggestions or advice on how to make the best use of this space. Thanks in advance!

It can be tricky without a visual, but here’s what I recommend. Start by sketching out your firepit and seating arrangement. Make sure you give yourself at least 8-10 feet of space around the firepit - it always feels like you need less than you actually do. Consider adding some trees or shrubs nearby for privacy but be cautious about their growth. Choose plants that thrive in your climate, like Blue Star junipers for winter interest and colorful coral bells that can handle the sun. A nice mulch or gravel around the plants can also tie the whole look together. Good luck with your project!

Thanks for those tips! I totally forgot to share a photo. I love the idea of adding some bushes for privacy. Appreciate your help!

If you're planning a firepit, good idea to also think about seating! You might want to create a circular seating arrangement around the firepit for a cozy vibe. Just make sure to keep everything safe and at a good distance from the flames. And if you have space, maybe add some outdoor cushions to make it comfy!
