Hey everyone! I'm trying to build a budget-friendly router table, but I've hit a snag with my Bosch 1200 AE plunge router. It's just too heavy and the safety trigger means I have to keep my hand on it to turn it on, which isn't practical for table use. The manual even says it shouldn't be used in a router table setup. I'm looking for suggestions on what router would be suitable instead. I know palm routers, especially cordless ones, aren't great due to low power (around 700W). It seems hard to find a strong mains router (UK 230V) that's not super expensive. Any advice?

I’d suggest looking at the Bosch 1617EVS 2.25 HP. It’s a solid option, but be prepared for a hefty price tag. I’ve seen it go for around £312.95, which is pretty steep! Unless you want to deal with importing it and extra costs, maybe keep searching for something local?
If you're set on getting something reliable without breaking the bank, consider the Triton models like TRA001 or MOF001. They’re designed to work smoothly with router tables and let you adjust the height from above. The only downside is they are around £250, which might be a stretch for you, but they get the job done well if you can afford it.
I’ve heard good things about the Triton options. Just wish they were a bit cheaper! I’m aiming for closer to £150, but it seems like quality options are hard to find.

Yeah, I looked at that too, but with the import fees and VAT, it just skyrockets the cost. I need to stick to a tighter budget!
