Hey everyone, I'm having a really tough time with ceiling fans lately. My old ones from around 2010 started making these loud noises, so I replaced them with some new ones from Amazon, but boy was that a mistake! The new fans have powerful motors that are just way too loud, even though they have great airflow (around 4000 CFM). My room is 13x14, and with poor insulation, the noise is driving me crazy.
I really need a silent but fairly powerful fan that costs under $200 each. I'm looking for a 52" fan, finished in nickel, and it has to be for a room with an 8" ceiling (so it can't hang lower than 13 inches). I don't mind if it's wired or remote-controlled, but I need more than 3 speeds. I'm on a tight budget since I need to buy two fans, and as someone who's autistic, I'm very sensitive to whirring and strange motor sounds. I've also tried a Hunter (Alexander) fan but found it too small at 44" with only 2700 CFM, and I looked at a Honeywell fan that's 52" but only has 2800 CFM. Are there any brands or specific models that you all trust? I've been through too many fans this month and I'm desperate for help!

You should definitely look for ceiling fans with DC motors because they're usually much quieter. Also, try to find a ceiling hugger style; they are designed to sit closer to the ceiling and can often give better airflow in tight spaces. I've had good luck shopping at Home Depot, and I’ve noticed that Costco carries Artika fans, which I really like!

That's a good tip! Is there a specific CFM rating you think is best for a room my size? Should I aim for 3000, 4000, or more?
