Need Tips for Caring for My New Houseplants!

Hey everyone! I've recently become hooked on shopping for plants, especially from the discounted section at Kroger. Now I've got a mix of snake plants, cacti, and a few other random types, but I'm feeling a bit lost on how to take care of them. Should I be getting new soil or pots? I'm a bit overwhelmed because I used to just grab whatever caught my eye without thinking things through. Any advice is welcome, but please don't judge my plant parent skills! Thanks a bunch! 🙂

You might want to check out some beginner plant care videos on YouTube—they’re super helpful! While repotting isn’t a must right away, it's a good idea if you want to inspect the roots. For potting, mix houseplant soil with perlite or pumice for better drainage, and make sure your pots have drainage holes. Remember, caring for plants can be tricky at first, so don't stress if some don’t make it!

Got it! So, for snake plants and cacti, I should let the soil dry out completely before watering again, right?

Thanks for the great tips! Quick question: should I use a black liner inside a clay pot, or just the pot with holes?

You're totally not alone in this! When you water, try taking your plants to the sink or tub to let them drain for a minute. Putting a saucer underneath can catch any extra water that drips out, which works really well.

Saucers are those little plates that go under the pots, right?
