I've been trying to rip wood by hand but I'm having trouble cutting straight lines. I can manage cross cuts without any issues, but ripping seems to be more challenging. Does anyone have any tips or techniques that could help?

Using a sawbench really changes the game! Setting your saw at a 45-degree angle to your cut and making sure your saw is sharp and well-set will help a lot. Also, I found those two-sided Japanese saws aren't the best for ripping—it’s better to use a tool designed for that.

Totally agree! The sawbench allows for better straight cuts than a vise. When I'm on the sawbench, I feel much more confident and have way fewer issues.
