I'm looking for advice on how to care for an Amaryllis and a holiday cactus (not sure about the type). Recently, a coworker's mom passed away, and she is giving me her mom's Amaryllis and holiday cactus because she knows I love plants. I want to make sure I can keep them alive and thriving. I have a bit of experience with cacti but have never cared for flowering plants before. Any tips on soil preferences, fertilizers, sunlight, or anything else would be greatly appreciated!

That holiday cactus does look a bit sad. It appears to be a Thanksgiving cactus. How's the soil—wet or dry? If it's dry, that could be the issue; it might need a good drink of water.
For the Amaryllis, I can't say much since mine has never bloomed, but for the holiday cactus, here's what I know: it's not a true cactus, so ditch the regular cactus care tips. I've had mine for ages! Just water it when the soil feels mostly dry or when the leaves start to droop a bit. They like bright windows too. I use Miracle Gro's Cactus, Palm, and Citrus mix—it drains well and works great for all my plants. If you send a pic, I might be able to identify which type you have.
