I've got a pesky green alkanet problem spreading through my garden, and I'm trying to dig it up and dispose of the roots. There's a large patch of it growing outside my fence that's hard to get to, but I've confirmed that it's on my property. Since I can't physically access that area, I'm looking for advice on how to effectively get rid of the green alkanet. I was considering using Roundup, but I'm unsure if it will be effective on such an established plant. Also, if I leave any dead roots behind, will they just regrow? Any help would be appreciated!

Using Roundup can be effective, but you need to keep an eye on it since green alkanet can reseed itself quickly. Make sure to reapply as soon as you notice new growth. If you can manage to get a weeding fork, the two-tined kind works great for grabbing the tap roots, which can help you uproot them. It's definitely a long-term battle—I’ve been dealing with mine for about five years, and while they're still popping up, there’s a significant improvement! Good luck with it!
