I really need some advice! My wife was really sick the other night and ended up falling asleep in the tub of our spare bathroom. I woke up to find water pouring through the living room ceiling! I've dried up most of it and have had a fan running for two days, but now there's a musty smell that just won't go away. How can I get rid of this smell for good? I assume I should use Kilz to cover the water stains, but my main concern right now is the odor. Any help would be appreciated!

You should definitely use a dehumidifier to help remove the moisture from the air. It's really important to dry out everything thoroughly to avoid any mold growth. A fan helps, but a dehumidifier will really speed up the process.
Be sure to check that the Sheetrock is completely dry, or you risk mold starting in the ceiling. If it's still damp after two days, you might need to drill some holes to let any trapped water escape, and possibly consider replacing the drywall if it’s too far gone. Just make sure to do it soon before it gets worse!

Thanks for the advice! Is it too late for the holes after two days, though?
