Need Woodworking Clamps for Chair Repair – Suggestions?

Hey everyone! I'm not really into woodworking, and I'm looking to avoid buying tools that I'll only use once. I'm trying to fix up a dining chair I picked up from Restore, and I think I'll need a couple of clamps for the job. I live in Wauwatosa and I'm willing to drive about 20 miles to find some. I only need them for a couple of days, so I'm considering my options. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Look into maker spaces or tool rental shops in your area; they sometimes have clamps available to borrow. And as a quick hack, depending on the joint you’re working with, packing tape can also do wonders for holding things together until the glue sets!

Great ideas! I’ll look into maker spaces and the tape trick.

You should definitely check out Harbor Freight. They have a store in Germantown where you can grab some really cheap clamps—usually under $5 each. Clamps can be handy for all sorts of projects, not just woodworking, so they're a good investment.

Totally agree! I've bought a few from there and they've been great for various tasks.

Honestly, clamps are one of those things where once you get a couple, you realize you can't have too many. I suggest buying a set of pipe clamps. They're not very expensive, plus you can customize their size and they’re quite sturdy for various uses. You won’t regret it!

For sure! They’re versatile and you’ll definitely find more uses for them later.
