New Smoke Detector Still Chirping—Any Ideas?

Hey folks, I'm having a bit of a frustrating issue with my smoke detectors. I live in a first-floor apartment with two hardwired interconnected smoke detectors and one battery-powered unit. Recently, the hardwired smoke detector in my bedroom started chirping every 30 minutes, so I replaced all the batteries in the detectors. After that, the chirping became less frequent but was still happening once every couple of hours, usually at night. I decided to get a new smoke detector to replace the one in my bedroom, but now the new one is also chirping 1-2 times a night randomly. To make it worse, these are the type with a built-in ten-year battery, so I can't change that. I cleaned the area where I installed it, but maybe I didn't do a thorough job. Does anyone have suggestions on what could be causing this? Thanks!

Sounds like you might have a pesky wiring issue. I've encountered a similar situation, and the problem was a loose neutral wire connection in the junction box. It could be worth checking if the wires tied with wire nuts are secure. Just something to consider!

It's possible that one or more of your detectors are malfunctioning. Just because the batteries last ten years doesn’t mean the whole unit will! Don’t be surprised if they start failing sooner than expected, even if they're brand new.

That’s worrying! I replaced the originals just this week. Are you saying I might need to replace them again soon?
