New to Milwaukee Tools: Why Won’t My Batteries Charge?

Hey everyone, I recently got into Milwaukee tools and bought the "Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion XC Starter Kit with One 5.0Ah Battery and Charger." However, I'm running into some trouble. After inserting the battery into the charger, it starts flashing red and green right away. I've tried removing and reinserting the battery multiple times, and eventually, it starts charging. Even after using the tool and bringing the battery down to 50%, it does the same thing when I put it back on the charger. I thought maybe it was a faulty unit, so I bought another one, but I'm experiencing the exact same issue. Am I missing something here, or are these batteries just not that great? Thanks for your help!

Have you checked the temperature of your charger and battery? If they’re cold, it can make charging tricky. Just a heads up, some folks have had issues when the temperature dips too low. You might want to try keeping them at room temperature before charging.

Yeah, it was around 60 degrees yesterday, but my garage can get a lot colder during winter. I’ll have to keep an eye on that!

It sounds like you're not making a solid connection when you put the battery in the charger. I've seen this a lot! You really need to push it in firmly until you hear and feel a click. It might feel a bit snug, but that’s how it should be. Once it clicks in properly, it should charge without any issue.
