Hey everyone! I've noticed that most of the house plants I've collected over the years are vines, which I'm not really looking for anymore due to space constraints. I currently have a few snake plants, an aloe plant, and some cacti that I absolutely love. I'm on the lookout for suggestions for house plants that aren't vines and won't grow into vines either. I don't mind doing a bit of pruning sometimes, but since my job requires me to be away from home for a week or two at a time, I need resilient plants that aren't too delicate or needy. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

There are definitely plenty of house plants that aren't vines! You might want to consider options like Dracaenas, Aglaonema, Alocasia, and Calatheas. If you want something that doesn't need much attention, rubber plants (Ficus elastica) are really hardy and can thrive even if you forget to water them occasionally. And Spider Plants can also hold up pretty well if you water them well beforehand!
If you're okay with plants that can handle some dry spells, ZZ plants are fantastic! They can go 2-3 months without needing water, and they're really slow growers so you won't be overwhelmed. Also consider Haworthia for compact, low-light options. My established spider plants have been great too, just be sure to give them a good drink before you leave!
Check out Schefflera (umbrella plant)! They’re low maintenance and have a unique leaf structure. I’ve got a few that are doing great in indirect light. Plus, they respond well to pruning! Just be cautious of their light needs; they thrive best away from direct sunlight. Good luck with your plant hunt!
I love the look of Schefflera! Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for the tips! I'm definitely leaning towards the Spider Plant and rubber plant!
