Paddle Switch vs. Lock-Switch Angle Grinders: What’s Your Take?

Hey everyone! I'm in the market for an angle grinder and I want to hear your thoughts. I've only used a lock-switch style before and I think it's pretty versatile since it allows you to change grip easily and you don't have to keep it pressed down all the time, which is handy when you're in tight spots. But I've heard some folks prefer the paddle switch for safety reasons. Which do you prefer and why?

I usually go for the lock-switch for the comfort it offers—the hand placement is better, and it's easier to maneuver without holding down a paddle. That said, if you ever use a dangerous wheel, the paddle is definitely more forgiving. My experiences with paddle switches have been mixed; they can lead to some wild situations if you lose control! Always choose what feels safe for you.

I have the paddle switch for my angle grinder and it's great when using attachments that stick out, but for metal grinding, I prefer the lock type. It’s just more comfortable and gives you better control without needing to hold down a switch constantly. For my die grinder, I wish I had the paddle since I often use it in tight spaces and I need to be able to stop quickly if things go sideways!
