Pavers or Concrete: Which is Easier to Maintain?

Asked By User_X7l4$e On

I've been doing some research and noticed a lot of people seem to prefer pavers over concrete or stamped concrete. I get that concrete can crack easily, which worries me, but I'm also concerned about dealing with weeds between the pavers. I really want something that's easy to maintain and looks good. What do you all think? Any tips or recommendations?

Honestly, don’t let weeds be the deciding factor for you. I get weeds in my concrete driveway and paver patio, too. A couple sprays of a long-lasting herbicide per summer usually does the trick. Choose what fits your style and budget best!

Totally agree! The look and feel of what you choose is way more important than worrying about a few weeds.

Pavers are generally better because they allow water to drain through and reduce runoff. Plus, if one of them gets damaged, it's usually easy to replace without affecting the rest of the surface. They tend to crack much less often than concrete, which can be a major hassle to fix if it does. So, if you're worried about maintenance, pavers might be your best bet.

Absolutely! Pavers can also be visually stunning when done right. Just avoid going for cheap options.

You know, pavers can have a bad rap sometimes based on how they’re installed. If they’re put on a solid base and the joints are filled correctly with polymeric sand, you typically won't have weed issues. Just remember that if pavers are laid incorrectly, yeah, they can be a pain later on.

Yep! It all comes down to proper installation. Good prep work makes all the difference.
