Random Holes in My Bathroom Door Casing – What Could They Be?

Asked By Xy9@tHawK On

I recently moved into a small studio apartment with my spouse, and I've noticed some strange holes scattered on the door casing in the bathroom. They seem to start at the light switch and extend down about three feet. It looks like there was some really poor caulking done, but I'm not sure what the holes are from. Could this have been caused by a drill or something? I just can't figure it out, and my attempts to research this have left me puzzled! Has anyone experienced something similar?

It might be worth checking for carpenter ants. They could create holes if they're nesting in your walls. If that's the case, you’ll want to handle it quickly. Maybe reach out to a pest control expert just to be safe!

I was thinking the same—could also be a DIY enthusiast who went a bit overboard with a nailer. Just make sure it’s not something that could lead to more serious issues!

Have you tried to look for more signs of pests? If you can't share pics here, maybe check to see if there are any droppings or sawdust around those holes. That could help you figure out what’s going on.

Yeah, those are really good points! I’ll keep an eye out for anything unusual near the holes.
