I'm building my toolkit and need a miter box that can handle cutting 2x6s. I've seen some inexpensive yellow plastic ones, but they come with cheap back saws that don't perform well. I'm considering investing a bit more in a clamping miter box, but they too tend to include low-quality saws. Does anyone have suggestions for a decent miter box that doesn't come with a worthless back saw?

If you're okay with making your own tools, I suggest constructing a custom miter box for larger cuts. I've done this for crown molding and smaller projects. It’s surprisingly rewarding and gives you exactly what you need!
Check out the Nobex professional miter box. It's great, though more tailored for picture framing with fine teeth, which might not be ideal for what you're looking for. If you want something for house framing, you might have a tougher time finding an appropriate tool.
Honestly, I don't know of any miter box on the market that can handle a 2x6 since they're typically made for trim work, not framing lumber. You might be better off marking your cuts and practicing with your handsaw for straighter lines. It's a more effective way for what you're trying to achieve!

Yeah, I've used the Nobex before, and while it's precise, it didn't suit my framing needs too well. They're just not built for the heavier duty stuff like cutting 2x6s.
