I'm on the hunt for a quality used table saw for my home workshop, ideally with a kickback guard, and I'd like to keep it under $500. I also want something that's easy to incorporate into a work table setup. Instead of just names, I'd really appreciate some insights on why specific models are great choices. As a bonus, I'm also looking for a solid 12" miter saw and would love to hear what makes it stand out. Currently, I have a 10" chop saw that just isn't cutting it, pun intended. Thanks for your help!

It’s tricky since prices vary widely based on location. Personally, I swear by my Bosch 12” Glide miter saw, though I rarely see them used. For table saws, I recommend the Delta 36-725T2 from Lowe's. It's a fantastic saw for the price, and I've seen them pop up used fairly often. The fence system on it is really excellent, which makes a big difference!
In many US cities, you can often find models like the Ridgid (like the TS3650 or R4520) or Delta's 36-725 contractor saws for around $400. They’re solid options! If you're considering older tools, Grizzly and Jet cabinet saws can be nice, but they might lack features like a splitter or riving knife. Also, don’t overlook job site saws—DeWalt and Skil saws, despite being a bit louder and lacking a cast iron top, are used by many hobbyists to create beautiful furniture. Plus, if you ever decide to upgrade, a well-maintained tool tends to hold its value well.
When selecting a table saw, focus on having a large capacity, precision, and an easy-to-adjust fence system. I chose the Delta 36-725T2 and couldn't be happier—it gives you an excellent fence system without breaking the bank. If you’re looking for maximum safety, sure, the SawStop is the gold standard, but I totally understand if that's out of the budget right now! Just remember to respect the blade—it can be a scary thought!

Yeah, I definitely can't swing a SawStop at the moment, but safety is a big concern for me. Eventually, if I open my workspace to others, I’d love to upgrade. For now, I just need something reliable!
