I'm looking for a reliable brushless impact driver that can last longer than a few months. I've been going through a lot of impact drivers lately, and while I do appreciate having a speed selection function, I'm curious if there's a brushless model out there without it. I've had a tough time finding the 787, and my experience with the 887 has not been great. Any suggestions?

Honestly, if you're having issues with the 887, it might be worth switching to the 850 model. It doesn’t have the speed control, but it could suit your needs better without burning out as fast. Just make sure it fits the work you’re doing!
Maybe you're just using them in ways that wear them out too quickly? I use mine for daily tasks and they've held up great. It might be time to rethink your approach or check if you've got the right model for your needs!
Right? My 887 is still going strong after years of use. Sounds like you might need a different tool for specific jobs.
It sounds like you're not using the right tools for the job if they're breaking that quickly. I've had my Dewalt 887 for almost a decade and it's still going strong. Maybe consider what you're putting it through?
Absolutely! I've used my 887 for tons of heavy jobs and it hasn't let me down. It seems like user error more than the tool itself.
I agree, it's definitely tough enough for most tasks if you aren't overdoing it!
The DCF887 model is known for its reliability as long as you don't overdo it with tough jobs it's not meant for. Are you sure you're not pushing it too hard?
I'd suggest looking into the 961 with a 1/2 to 1/4 hex adapter if you want a solid alternative. If that breaks on you, you might just want to go back to basics with a hammer and nails!

Just a heads up though, some users found the 850 a bit underwhelming for heavy tasks, so keep that in mind.
