I'm planning to get a greenhouse for next year and am overwhelmed by all the advertisements. I'm particularly interested in wooden greenhouses, but they typically run around £3,000, which might be out of my budget. I've seen Walton models that are slightly cheaper, but I wonder if they're worth the investment. Do you have any brand suggestions or personal experiences with greenhouses?

Be cautious with some brands, like Billy Oh. I've had a terrible experience with mine—faulty parts and poor craftsmanship. It's been frustrating and costly. I recommend the Halls greenhouses instead; I've had one and really loved it.
We have a Rhino greenhouse and it's been worth every penny! While it's on the pricier side, the quality beats our old Halls greenhouse by far. It features 4mm toughened glass, sturdy frame bars, and excellent moving parts. We even had it assembled by a professional to save time. If you can, check out their deals during off-peak season!
I've been using a basic Elite aluminium greenhouse for around ten years, and it’s still in great shape. I've also heard really good things about Rhino greenhouses. Sure, wood looks nice, but it can be pricey, and you usually need a solid brick foundation. Those Walton ones? I'd advise against them—definitely a case of 'buy cheap, buy twice.' If you're looking for value, a polytunnel might be the way to go!
Definitely! Polytunnels are a great temporary solution while you save up.
If you're interested, I found a Rhino greenhouse listed on eBay for only £4.21! It’s a steal, but keep in mind it’s 250 miles away from me, so shipping might be an issue.
I had a wooden greenhouse for about a decade, but I replaced it with a Robinson's aluminium one last year and love it! Wooden models are beautiful, but unless you go for cedar, they tend to rot over time. I tried waterproofing mine, but it's a hassle to apply. Aluminium requires no maintenance, which makes it a better option in the long run.

That's really helpful to know! I'm on the waiting list for an allotment, and my budget is tight. Would a polytunnel work until I save more for a proper greenhouse?
