Restoring a Vintage Craftsman Hand Plane: What Blade Options Do I Have?

I'm working on restoring a Craftsman hand plane from the 1950s that belonged to my great-grandfather. It's in pretty decent shape overall, but the blade is uneven; the left side is much lower than the right. I've spent about an hour sharpening it with sandpaper, but I haven't made much progress. I'm starting to think about just buying a new blade. My main question is, what types of blades will fit this plane? Can I find a new 2-inch blade that will work, or do I have to track down one that's specifically for this model?

You might want to focus on fixing the old blade rather than buying a new one. Using a bench grinder can really help reshape the blade, but remember to dip it in water often to keep the temper intact. Just be careful—I've messed up a blade using one before!

I totally messed up one too with a bench grinder, so I get it! But I'm ready to give it another shot ?.
