Hey everyone! I'm looking to install a CCTV camera in my motorhome, but I have a bit of a dilemma. The camera needs a 9V power supply, while my motorhome runs on 12V. I've used buck converters like the LM2596 for various projects before, but given the expense of my motorhome, I really want to ensure that whatever solution I choose is reliable and safe. I'd prefer not to use cheap components from sites like AliExpress, especially since the camera will be running 24/7. Does anyone have suggestions for a dependable way to step down the voltage from 12V to 9V for about a 300mA load?

For a reliable solution, try looking for a DC-to-DC converter specifically made for automotive use. They’re typically inexpensive, waterproof, and come with a warranty for about 2 years. Here’s a link to one that could work: [link]
There are plenty of options available on Amazon to convert 12V to 9V. Just search for a 12V to 9V converter, and you'll find many with solid reviews. Most of them are priced between $15-$25 CAD, and there are models with aluminum or plastic housings that earn high ratings for reliability. You might find a good option there!
I’ve had a similar experience with Amazon. A lot seems to just be AliExpress stuff rebranded. If I’m paying more, I want something from a reputable brand.

That looks decent, but I see so many similar products from AliExpress. I’d rather invest in something from a known brand.
