SawStop Brake Activation Issue on Startup – Seeking Insights

Hey everyone! I've been having a frustrating issue with my SawStop. Every time I turn it on, the brake activates immediately, even before the blade starts spinning. This has happened three times now. I already reached out to SawStop and will be sending the brakes for inspection. Right now, I'm down to one brake and I really want to avoid this problem recurring while waiting for a replacement. I've noticed this issue mainly occurs after I've cleaned the saw with a vacuum and compressed air to get rid of sawdust from the interior and the dust port. No adjustments were made to the saw, and there hasn't been any contact with material when it activates. Has anyone else experienced something similar? What was SawStop's response like? Also, will they replace the brakes if this activation is a fault of the machine? Thanks for any help!

I've heard that SawStop generally replaces brakes if they're triggered due to user error, since they like to collect that sensor data. Because your activations aren't due to mistakes on your part, there's a chance they might cover the brakes for you. It's worth asking them about it!

Yeah, I plan to ask them exactly that when I send my brakes in. It’s good to know they might be helpful!

Did you notice any warning lights before switching it on? The saw is supposed to flash a red light if it detects any touch to the blade when it's off. Maybe that could give you a clue if something's wrong even before starting it up.

It sounds like a tricky situation! One possibility is that there could be moisture in your air compressor line. Sometimes, water can get deposited on the saw and accidentally trigger the brake. Have you checked that?
