Seeking Recommendations for a New Table Saw

I'm in the market for a new table saw to replace two old machines that have seen better days: one is a foldable table saw that can also function as a chop/crosscut saw, and the other is an underfloor pull saw. Both have several issues. I've considered getting a new folding saw with a pull function like newer crosscut saws, but it seems those options are pretty limited. A combo saw doesn't seem to offer enough advantages to justify the price, at least compared to what I already have.

I'm leaning towards a high-quality table saw with a larger table, sturdy construction, more power, a bigger blade for deeper cuts, and a good fence—essentially something smaller and less pricey than a sliding table saw, but still powerful. So far, I've looked at options like the Scheppach TS310 and the Metabo TKHS 315, but I have my doubts about them, especially given that Scheppach might be hit or miss based on what I've heard.

The Metabo TKHS 315 M 4.2 DNB seems to come close to what I need, but I've read mixed reviews about its fence accuracy and stability. I'm also interested in the Axminster TS-200-2, which looks like a perfect fit, but unfortunately, it's not available in Germany, not even used.

Any recommendations or insights into which models might suit my needs? I also have a plunge saw, but I'm not entirely sold on just relying on it and a chop saw combination alone.

I think you're on the right track with considering a robust table saw. The Scheppach does have some good features, but I agree that their quality can vary. Have you looked into the SawStop models? They might be pricier, but they're known for safety and reliability which might offset the cost in the long run. Also, showing you a specific multifunctional saw might be a better investment instead of settling for two machines that don't meet your needs. Don’t forget to check online reviews for user experiences, as that can help clarify some of your doubts!

Honestly, there are some great options that sit below the sliding table saw price point but still offer that professional capability. You might want to look into the Grizzly G0605X, which has good reviews for durability and accuracy and boasts a nice fence system as well. They’ve got a nice balance of price and performance. Plus, I’ve seen them available in various regions including Germany. Give it a look!

From what you've described, it sounds like you're specifically looking for a hybrid solution that combines the best of both worlds. It’s true that sliding table saws are more common in cabinet shops for handling large sheets, but you can achieve similar results with a good standard table saw by using a sled or miter gauge. If you're set on the Metabo, just make sure to test it in person if possible; the feedback about the fence can be a dealbreaker for many woodworkers. Alternatively, you might want to check out the Delta Unisaw, as it’s well-loved for its sturdy construction and accuracy.
