Hey everyone! I'm a new homeowner and I've been tackling a few small projects around the house. I often find myself wishing I had a saw but I'm not sure which one to get since I have no experience with them. I'm leaning towards a handheld circular saw, but I want to make sure it's versatile for different types of projects without breaking the bank. I've got a few Ryobi tools already, but just one battery and charger. What's the most universal type of saw I should consider? It’d help to know what kind of projects you’re planning to do, but generally speaking, a circular saw is a great choice for most tasks. It can handle rough cuts on lumber and sheet goods. If you’re doing more precise work or need to make angled cuts, a miter saw is a solid option.

Right now, I’m mostly interested in patching things up around the yard. For instance, I want to fix the fence and maybe work on our shed, which is in pretty bad shape. A circular saw sounds like it could be the right fit for cutting wood to size!
