Should I Be Concerned About Using Fish Fertilizer With Stray Cats Around?

I recently got a bottle of 5-1-1 fish fertilizer as a gift, and wow, the smell is intense! I didn't really think about the potential animals it might attract. There are quite a few stray cats in my neighborhood, and I'm a bit worried. Is this something I should be concerned about? Has anyone else had issues with pets or wildlife being attracted to this type of fertilizer?

I can relate! I had some issues with a raccoon trying to dig up my plants thinking there was fish buried! Not the most fun experience. But if it helps, when I used it, it didn’t attract stray cats. Just keep an eye on your plants, and hopefully, everything will be fine!

Ugh, raccoons can be such a pain! I hope yours stay away! If it rains soon, that should help wash away the smell too.

I've used fish fertilizer for a while, and honestly, I’ve never had any issues with cats being attracted to it. But if you live in a busy area, it's definitely something to keep in mind! Just make sure to water it in well, which might help with the smell too.
