Should I Be Concerned After Getting Hit by a Table Saw Kickback?

I work in a shop where using table saws is part of the job. Today, I had a piece of wood with a 5/8th thickness kick back and hit me in the stomach. I've got some light bleeding and a bruise, but I thought I'd be fine. Now, seven hours later, I'm feeling nauseous in my abdomen. Should I be worried or is this just a deep bruise?

I hate to say it, but this could be a sign of internal bleeding. I've had a similar incident where a heavy piece hit me, and it left a nasty bruise. It’s best to get someone to check it out. Just because it doesn't hurt like crazy doesn’t mean it’s nothing!

Look, I'm not a doctor, but waiting until normal doctors are asleep before considering this an emergency isn’t the best idea. If you’re feeling off after that injury, at least talk to a medical professional. Your body knows best, and if it feels bad, you should get it checked.

Honestly, you should definitely go to urgent care like, right now. There could be a bunch of things going on internally, and it’s better to be safe than sorry. Plus, if it turns out to be serious and you haven't had it checked out, you might have a tough time with workers comp later on. Remember, you’re entitled to that assistance even if it was an accident at work.
