I recently got a benchtop planer for my garage workshop, and now I'm on a mission to create a mobile stand for it. Since I also park in the garage, it needs to be easy to roll out into the driveway to avoid sawdust collection inside. I've seen some budget-friendly sheet metal stands, but I'm curious if they'd be sturdy enough for my planer. For those who have a planer that's not mounted to a fixed bench, what type of stands do you use? Did you make it yourself, or did you buy something? Thanks for any input!

I built a rolling cart with round posts that support the top. I adjusted the height so it fits nicely under my bench. You could definitely whip up something similar with some lumber and larger casters!
If space is tight, a folding table could work since it doesn't really need a fixed stand. Just make sure to clamp it down to keep it stable when in use. Does your planer have threads in the bottom for bolting it down? I've seen people use sawhorses or a workmate with knobs to secure them.
I just use my collapsible Craftsman workbench; it's about the same size as my planer base. But honestly, I’d recommend building a stand! You could even create a multi-use setup with the planer on a lower shelf and use the top for a miter saw or jointer.
Do you have any problems with vibrations on that folding workbench? I heard planers can be pretty noisy and cause wobbling.
Building one sounds great, but I'm dealing with this time versus money situation. Anyone have plans they could share?
