I recently noticed a water mark on the ceiling of my first floor, right under my shower room. My house is just over a year old, and an inspector checked it out, saying there are no pipe leaks. He suggested that the issue might be due to the shower needing some re-caulking. I'm not sure whether I should hire a handyman to handle the re-caulking or if I should just go straight to a plumber. What do you think?

If you're comfortable doing it yourself, re-caulking the shower might be a simple fix. Otherwise, a handyman is definitely a good call for that job. Just keep in mind that if the leak continues afterward, you may need to bring in a plumber to dig deeper into the issue.
Yeah, I may need to go with a handyman too since I also need to repaint the ceiling.
After you recalk the shower, pencil in a light outline around that water stain on the ceiling and keep an eye on it. If it starts to grow after you shower, then the problem is something else—may not just be the caulk that's causing it.
Also, consider what type of shower you have—tile or acrylic? A shower usually shouldn't leak just from bad caulk, unless it’s around the shower valve trim or the tub spout. Check inside the access panel for any leaks from the shower arm or where the floor meets the shower. Just be aware, if it’s the shower pan leaking, that could lead to a costly repair or even a new shower.

I really like this approach—start simple and escalate only if needed!
